Empty states
Empty state examples for instructors
Problem
We need to allow for all kinds of empty state scenarios in our digital courseware. We try to follow these guidelines where possible:
- Help to encourage use by focusing on the benefits
- Provide a call to action when possible
- Focus on what will appear and how to make that happen

UX design, visual design, UX research, and product marketing
Solutions
First use example
Instructors need to create assignments to populate the dashboard.
Good to know
- The President of Global Product for Pearson noted this copy during an on-site presentation by our product team design manager. He was impressed by our new more conversational voice.
No results on filter example
We categorize no results from a search or filter as an empty state. In this example, the filter feature is still visible and available, so we don’t need a call-to-action button.
Good to know
We added a way to close the modal.
